Gulf Breeze: New Publix and more..
Jan 24, 2008
Moulton Properties, developer of the more than 89,000-square-foot shopping complex, has received more than 100 letters of interest from retailers, said Matt Durney of Durney Properties, leasing agent.

Joining the previously announced Publix supermarket anchor will be:

• Catch-of-the-Day, an Island Grille: a fine dining seafood restaurant.

• Tiki Jake's: a shop offering the Life is Good merchandise brand.

• Gulf Breeze Eye Care Center.

• Ciao Bella: an Italian restaurant and pizzeria.

• A upscale day spa, along with a women's clothing store and a women's shoe store, both from Destin.

Durney said negotiations continue with another "theme" restaurant, a fast-food chicken franchise, a women's jeans store, and Williams-Sonoma, which offers specialty products for cooking and entertaining.

Further east down U.S. 98, there are a number of new businesses in the works, said Bill Dubois, with Santa Rosa County's Division of Planning and Zoning.

• Gulf Coast Community Bank is under construction on an out-parcel in the now-vacant Delchamps shopping center across from the Whisper Bay subdivision.

Efforts continue to lure a big-box retailer to the old Delchamps site, with the Florida Department of Transportation, county officials and Moulton Properties now negotiating for placement of a traffic light there.

• Just east of Oriole Beach Road, Gulf Breeze Gymnastics & Cheer is building a larger facility.

• Home Depot is looking at property in the Midway area, Dubois said.

• In Navarre, a Whataburger will be built near the Sunrise Drive entrance to Holley by the Sea.

• A restaurant and package store is planned at the foot of the Navarre Beach Bridge.

n A new sports bar called Houston's will be opened across U.S. 98 from the Navarre Publix.

Also, some changes are in the works for Bagelheads on Pensacola Beach.

Domino's Pizza has moved into half the space and has developed a sit-down restaurant offering pizza by the slice, Buffalo wings, a salad bar and desserts, in addition to the traditional delivery service.

Bagelheads has reopened in the other half, but this spring it will convert to Burritoheads, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner burritos and wraps, in addition to bagels and coffee. The plan is to purchase big screen televisions and offer beer and wine in the evenings.
